Encounter in Udupi: Most wanted Naxal leader Vikram Gowda killed

Udupi: Vikram Gowda, the most sought Naxal leader, was killed in Udupi. According to police sources, the most wanted Naxal leader, Vikram Gowda, was killed in a gunfight between the police and Naxalites in Peetabailu of Hebri Kabvinale of Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
Over the past few days, there has been an uptick in naxal movement in the Hebri-Karkala area. The Karnataka ANF was prepared for the operation against this backdrop.
Combing began at midnight yesterday when five Naxals arrived to pick up rations close to Sitambailu.
Vikram Gowda, a Kabbinale local, is reported to have been there during this combing and is known to have perished in the gunfire. According to reports, there is a vigorous manhunt underway for the remaining Naxalites.
