Karnataka High Court Embraces Wellness: International Yoga Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm

The Karnataka High Court  joined the global community in celebrating the 11th International Yoga Day, organizing a special yoga session within its premises. The event, held in collaboration with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, saw enthusiastic participation from Honorable Judges, judicial officers, and court staff, underscoring the growing recognition of yoga’s benefits in fostering well-being, even within demanding professional environments.

The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” resonated deeply with the participants, highlighting yoga’s role in promoting not only individual health but also a harmonious relationship with the environment.

The session was inaugurated by the Honorable Acting Chief Justice V. Kameshwara Rao, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. In his address, Justice Rao emphasized the increasing need for such practices, particularly for judges and legal professionals who navigate high-pressure situations daily. He suggested that integrating yoga into daily routines, perhaps even with dedicated one-hour sessions every Saturday within court premises, could significantly enhance physical and mental agility. He noted that yoga not only invigorates the body but also sharpens the mind, leading to increased productivity and overall well-being.

Expert yoga instructors guided the participants through various asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques. The atmosphere was one of tranquility and shared purpose, as individuals from different roles within the judiciary came together to embrace this ancient Indian discipline.

The celebration at the High Court mirrors similar widespread observances across Karnataka and the nation, with various government organizations, educational institutions, and civil society groups actively participating. The event served as a powerful reminder of yoga’s universal appeal and its capacity to bring about inner peace and a healthier, more balanced life, even amidst the rigors of judicial work.
