Bengaluru Rains: 128 Trees fell down in City; orange alert from weather department!

Bengaluru: A total of 128 trees fell down in Bengaluru 4 pm due to torrential rain that continued for more than 2 hour.

Out of these 118 trees fell down, 128 huge branches were broken. As a result, road traffic was disrupted in many places. In the meantime, a tree fell on the track near the Trinity Metro station and the Metro service was canceled from MG Road to Trinity.

According to IMD data, the city received 103.5 mm of rain, according to data from Varuna Mitra, maximum rainfall was 86.50 mm in Vidyapeeth, 84.50 mm in Cotton Town, 80 mm in Hampinagar, Horamavu area and 78.50 mm in Kodigehalli. IMD has announced Orange Alert.

As a result of the torrential rains, the roads were flooded and turned into rivers within minutes. There was severe traffic jam in Airport Road, Hosur Road, Peenya, Koramangala, Bannerghatta Road, Mysore Road, Hebbal Road and other areas. The Bengaluru-Mysore access controlled highway was flooded due to heavy traffic.

A bus stuck in an underpass

An incident of a BMTC bus with more than 20 passengers getting stuck in the under bridge of the flooded Sivananda circle was also reported. Passengers, driver and conductor got off the bus safely. The public pushed the bus out of the underpass clearing plastic covers, tree branches and other garbage that obstructed the drain. Water intrusion into Manjunath city was also reported.
