Ayodhya Ram temple blast threat: Bihar man arrested

Patna: Police have arrested a Bihar-based man on the charge of threatening to blow up the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which is being inaugurated on Monday.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Bihar’s Araria district for calling the police and threatening to blow up the temple at a time when all preparations are being completed for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, a senior official said on Sunday.

Araria Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said that Intekhab Alam, who made the call from his house in Balua Kaliganj under Palasi Police Station, was arrested late on Saturday night.

He informed about this, “The person had dialed 112 on January 19, where citizens can get emergency help. He claimed that his name was Chhota Shakeel and that he was a relative of Dawood Ibrahim. On January 22, Alam had said on the phone that he would blow up the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Thus, he has been arrested. The accused has been arrested. He has no criminal background, but is mentally unstable,” said SP Singh.

In view of the sensitivity of the issue, a case has been registered at Palasi Police Station. Singh said that the police also seized his mobile phone.
