The list of public holidays for the year 2023 has been published by the state government

Bengaluru: The state government on Wednesday released the list of public holidays sanctioned for the year 2023.

Here is the schedule and notification of public holidays
Republic Day (Jan 26),

Mahashivaratri (Feb 18),

Ugadi festival (March 22),

Mahavira Jayanti (April 3),

Good Friday (April 7),

Dr.BR Ambedkar Jayanti ( April 14),

Labor Day (May 1),

Bakrid (June 29),

Last Day of Muharram (July 29),

Independence Day (August 15),

Varasidhi Vinayaka Vrata (September 18),

Eid-Milad (September 28),

Gandhi Jayanti (October 2),

Mahanavami, Ayudhapuje (October 23),

Vijayadashami (October 24),

Kannada Rajyotsava (November 1),

Balipadyami, Diwali (November 14),

Kanaka Jayanti (November 30),

Christmas (December 25).

This holiday list includes Makara Sankranti (15.01.2023), Basava Jayanti/Akshay Tritiya (23.04.2023) and Naraka Chaturdashi (12.11.2023) on Sundays, Mahalaya Amavasya on second Saturday (14.10.2023) and Khutb-e-Ramzan on fourth Saturday. (22.04.2023) and Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti (28.10.2023) are not mentioned in this holiday list.

All government offices across the state are closed on these public holidays. The heads of the respective departments should take immediate action regarding the disposal of urgent works of the Govt. In this list, the festivals of the Muslim community are not on fixed dates. Muslim employees in Government service may be given leave on their festivals.

The Commissioner of Public Education Department will announce the list of separate holidays for the Education Department. The notification informed that the officials of the education department will hold a discussion on this and announce the list of holidays.
