Person lost Rs. 1 lakh for multiplex gold card!
Bengaluru : An incident has come to light where a person was lured to buy a multiplex gold card by claiming to be a private bank and lost Rs.1 lakh.
On October 14, Ajay, a resident of Chandralayout, who runs a garment business in Nagarabhavi, had gone to see a movie at a mall on Mysore Road. This time, a person has given information about the multiplex gold card saying that it is a weekend special complimentary. Also, he explained the benefits of buying. Later, the fraudster, who entrusted Ajay to buy the card, asked him to give Aadhaar and PAN card in order to deliver the card to his home. Also, he got the OTP.
Ajay, who had shared all the information without knowing the fraud, checked the bank balance through the online bank portal on October 15. At this time, he was shocked to find that there was Rs. 200 out of Rs. 1,18,200 in the account.
The bank officials immediately contacted and got the information. Bank officials said that they were able to get money from the bank account because the OTP was shared. Fraudsters have made total four transactions of Rs.99,999, Rs.1, Rs.15,000, Rs.3,000. Ajay said that a total of Rs 1,18,000 was transferred to a private bank account in the name of Debendu Mishra.
Multiplex does not request to provide any official documents. Officials said that many people are losing money by sharing their Aadhaar card information through the portal.
A case has been registered in the Batarayanpur police station under the IT Act.
