‘Our clinic'(Namma Clinic) will start in the state in mid-December-BBMP

Bengaluru : BBMP Special Commissioner (Health) Dr. KV Trilok Chandra said that ‘Namma Clinic’ approved by the state government in 2022 is expected to start in two phases in mid-December.

Commissioners held a meeting on Monday to review the progress of our clinic project in Bengaluru.

Speaking later, Trilok Chandra said that the cost of setting up our clinic will be around Rs.3 lakh per clinic. Setting up our clinic in Bangalore will cost around Rs.7.3 crores. He said 108 clinics would be started in the first phase and the remaining 153 clinics would be started soon.
Dr. A. S. Balasundar, Chief Health Officer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palika (BBMP), who participated in the meeting, said that the civil works of our clinic have already been completed. Recruitment of staff nurses, lab technicians, doctors and Group D employees for all 243 clinics has also been completed, 150 clinics have been set up in government buildings while the rest have been set up in private rented buildings, he informed.

Talking about complaints that the quality of our clinics is poor, he clarified that our clinics are sub-central level health clinics that provide basic primary care.

Namma clinics will provide primary care or counseling for diabetes, mental illness, hypertension or other communicable or non-communicable diseases.
The Department of Health aims to provide basic healthcare services to poor people easily. BBMP is working as per the deadlines and we are waiting for the health department’s order to start our clinics in Bengaluru.

The state health department will start distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards to 5.09 crore people from December 8, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said.
