Bandipur tiger census begins from October 20

The census of tigers will begin from October 20 to 25 at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
Training is being completed based on the availability of camera and field personnel.
The census field survey is likely to start on October 20 or 25 because it should be completed by December and sent to the Indian Wildlife Agency and the National Tiger Conservation Authority, a senior forest department official said.
MM Hills staff is set to launch a camera trap survey from October 14. “Since we have collected cameras from other tiger reserves for training, we want to do a survey for evaluation before sending them to other reserves and areas,” an official said.
Officials are waiting for the Dussehra festivities to be over, and the evaluation of herbivores and carnivores will be done precisely after the staff has returned to full scale. Officials in the Nagarahole, Bhadra, Kudremukh and Kali Tiger Protected Areas are reviewing before using it to perform the census.
