Bengaluru: Drinking water supply is given priority to slum areas where poor people mostly live in the city and areas with high population density, 1 lakh liters of drinking water is being supplied free of cost to these areas daily, said Dr. Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board Chairman. V. Ram Prasat Manohar said.

On Sunday morning, he visited Ambedkar slum, Gandhinagar and Bangarappa Nagar slums of Nayandahalli-Pantharpalya in the city and checked, there are 1088 houses in 34 blocks and about 8 thousand people live in Ambedkar slum. The water level in the borewells drilled by the slum board has fallen. 22 Syntex tanks are placed at different places in this area and drinking water is being supplied through tankers. He said that Syntex tanks are being filled with water twice a day and one lakh liters of water is being supplied every day.

He said that the people in this area are not dependent on private tankers and that they should not be financially burdened. Water is being supplied to Ambedkar slum twice a day. Jalmandal chairman Dr. said that there is a high demand for water, and water will be supplied immediately on priority. Ram Prasat Manohar promised.

The hard workers of Jalmandal are working day and night to supply drinking water to the people of the city. There was a disruption in the Cauvery water supply route last night. Overnight, our crew carried out these repairs to help keep the water flowing smoothly. This has avoided the water shortage that could have happened. He paid tribute to the hard workers of Jalmandal who were responsible for this.
