London: The new UK-India Young Professionals Visa scheme launched by the new UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been welcomed by the business sector and the student sector, hailing it as a step forward in ensuring smooth movement of top talent between markets.
The visa scheme, which was announced on Wednesday, will be rolled out from early next year. Under this scheme, 3,000 visas will be issued annually to Indian students and professionals between the ages of 18 and 30 to live and work in Britain for 24 months.
The scheme will be open to graduate-educated young professionals below the age of 30, with detailed application criteria expected to be laid out in the coming weeks. Britain’s Home Office said in its guidance list that further updates will be added after the first Indian ballot is announced.
