CPI attacked by ganja peddlers in stable condition: airlifted to Bengaluru for further treatment

Kalaburagi: CPI Srimant Illal of Kamalapur circle, who was attacked by about 50 people while he was going to arrest criminals who were growing ganja on the Maharashtra border, was severely injured and was in an unconscious state, doctors said, and his health is stable.
Talking to The Media, Kalaburagi United Hospital Director Dr. Vikram Siddadi said that Illal’s health condition is stable, his family members want to shift him to Bengaluru hospital for further treatment, hence it has been decided to take him to Bengaluru by air ambulance on Monday.
Meanwhile, additional SP Prasanna Desai said that a case has been registered against 50 unknown people in Manthal police station in connection with the attack on Kalaburagi rural CPI Srimantha Illala on the Maharashtra border near Honnalli village.
Humanabad ASP Shivanshu Rajput has been made the investigating officer in this case. Sources said that the Manthal police have taken some people into custody in this connection. Bidar SP Dekka Kishore Babu said that the police have got important information about the accused and they are likely to arrest them soon.
A team of Mahagaon Police headed by Kalaburagi (Rural) CPI Srimanta Illa went to Tururi Wadi on Friday night to nab the accused after receiving information that a ganja smuggler was getting contraband from Tururi Wadi village. However, around 40-50 miscreants attacked Illa with weapons and escaped. Srimant Illal, who was seriously injured, was admitted to the United Hospital in Kalaburagi.
