Domestic flights carrying over 20 lakh passengers in 30 days after lockdown

NEW DELHI: Domestic airlines are taking two million passengers in a month after domestic airlines were granted permission to lock down, a senior government official said. “As of June 24, domestic airlines carried 1.8 million passengers,” said Usha Padhi, joint secretary of the civil aviation ministry.
Speaking at the US-India Aviation Co-Operation Program Web Nar, the number is expected to decrease, compared to the same capacity on a yearly basis. The ministry will collaborate with all classes of civil aviation to restore confidence in aviation. “We will continue to work, update and redefine our strategies for the growth of the sector as we continue.”
