FASTag Mandatory From Today at toll plazas across the country

The Central Government has mandated the Fast Tag across the country and vehicles without Fast Tag will have to pay a double in the toll.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari  said that the deadline for implementation of FASTag will not be extended and vehicle owners should immediately buy the e-payment facility.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials also said that vehicles entering the lanes without valid tags would have to pay double the fees.

FASTag can be recharged by using digital payment ,internet banking, credit or debit cards and UPI. FASTag is valid for 5 years from the date of purchase .

People who are exempted from paying tolls, like judges, ministers, lawmakers, top bureaucrats and military officers, and emergency service workers, do not need to get FASTag.

The central government had earlier extended the deadline for vehicles to get FASTag from January 1 to February 15.
