Covid-19 vaccine given to 30 crore people in a few months: PM Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the first phase of the Covid-19 vaccine would begin on January 16, with the Union and the states demonstrating a unique coalition by fighting the Kovid-19 vaccine.
The Prime Minister, in a conversation with the chief ministers of states about the vaccine, said 30 crore people will be given the Covid-19 vaccine in the next few months. He said he was pleased that everyone was successful in controlling the coronavirus infection by taking quick decisions.
Made in India has been sanctioned for the vaccine, with the first phase targeting 30 million people. Prime Minister Modi explained that in the first phase, 3 crore health workers and frontline workers will be vaccinated, while in the second phase, people over 50 and under-50s will get the vaccine.
Prime Minister Modi said the vaccine cost to the health workers would not have to be spent by the state government in any way but the central government would bear the cost of the vaccine.
