Pakistan Supreme Court orders rebuilding of destroyed Hindu temple

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered the rebuilding of a century-old Hindu temple in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which was set on fire by a frantic group. The Supreme Court has said that the attack on the temple has embarrassed the country internationally.
The court heard the attack and ordered the local authority to appear before the court on January 5. In addition, the Dawn newspaper reported that the board had been directed to submit information on operating temples and gurudwaras across Pakistan.
Human rights activists and minority Hindu community leaders have strongly condemned the attacks on a Hindu temple in Teri village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Karak district on Wednesday by members of the fanatical Zaimit Ulema-e-Islam party.
The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad, directed the EPTB to take action against officials involved in clearing and clearing temples across the country.
The EPTB is responsible for the management of religious places and property of Hindus and Sikhs who have migrated from India.
