Implementation of BMTC’s ambitious digital payment system is likely to be delayed further

Bengaluru : Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC)’s ambitious digital payment system is showing signs of delay.

BMTC had said that it will implement the system of buying tickets through UPI in the month of December. However, even after months have passed since the new year, it has not yet been implemented. It is being said that even after the implementation of this system, there are still possibilities of delay.

BMTC is ready to implement digital ticketing system. But, waiting for the bank’s reply. BMTC sources informed that the UPI-based ticketing system will be implemented once the bank has responded on the maximum discount on transaction charges and discount rate.

BMTC conductors have a handheld device, on which they enter the destination of passengers. The machine calculates the price. It then shows the code, then the passenger can scan it through Google Pay or Phone Pay and pay the money. Physical tickets are also being given to the needy. Officials have informed that if the transaction is not completed, people will have to pay and buy tickets.
