Scam to 16 tenants: Woman arrested

Bengaluru : About Rs 1 crore was paid to 16 house tenants who lived in the same building. The owner of the house has been arrested by the Chandralayout police on charges of cheating.

Gangondanahalli resident Sudha (45) was arrested. 16 people including Mohammad Naheem had filed a case against her on charges of fraud. Police said that she has been arrested in this connection.

The accused woman Sudha Gangondanahalli S.N. Luminos has built apartments. 16 houses were leased out in a 5-storey apartment complex.

Last July 11, the accused woman had taken a home loan from the Co-operative Bank. However, the borrowers came to know that they were cheated when the bank officials came to seize the apartment due to non-payment of the loan.

Now the lessees are in a precarious situation as they are unable to stay in the existing house even without the money given for the lease. Apart from receiving money from 16 borrowers, they were cheated by not informing about the receipt of notice from the bank regarding the loan. In the complaint, the beneficiaries alleged that if we ask them to return the money after knowing the matter, they abused us obscenely and threatened to kill us with rowdies.
