Free electricity for small weavers too: CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru  : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured that a decision will be taken shortly regarding providing free electricity to the looms of small weavers using electricity up to 10 HP.The Chief Minister gave this assurance in a meeting with the officials at the Home Office Krishna on Friday under the Department of Commerce and Industry to implement the scheme of providing power to looms and pre-loom units with electricity connection up to 10 HP.

The demand for free electricity for small weavers’ looms up to 10 HP was also discussed with the officials. Both the issues will be examined and a decision will be taken soon. Earlier I had promised to provide free electricity to the weavers. It has also been announced in the budget. The Chief Minister said that this will be of great benefit to the small weavers.

Commissioner of Handloom and Textile Department Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Chief Secretary of Finance Department LK Ateek, Chief Minister’s Secretary Jayaram, Textile Department Secretary PSN Kumar were present in the meeting.
