Increase of active cases in the state: Beginning Corona 4th wave anxiety?

BENGALURU : Despite 139 new infections being detected in the state on Saturday, the steady rise in active cases has raised fears about the Covid 4th wave.

The last time the state registered more than 100 new cases was on March 24. So far on April 21, 100 cases have been registered. The total number of infections in the state rose to 39,46,874 with 139 cases detected yesterday.

The number of active cases rose to 1,679 on Saturday, from 1,464 on April 17, with some saying the Covid 4th wave was worrisome, and experts said there was no need to worry.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. C.N.Manjunath, Director and Technical Advisory Committee of Jayadeva Hospital, said two new strains, BA.2.10 and BA.2.12, of the BA2 mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Covidium, have been found in the state, leading to increased infections.

D Randeep, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services, said the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) has not officially reported the discovery of BA 2.10 and BA 2.12 in the state. Cases of new infections are on the rise and the number of recoveries is declining. He said active cases are on the rise.

Active cases are on the rise, but none have been reported since April 9 in the state. The death toll in the state stands at 1.01 per cent.

In the meantime, Bangalore tops the list of most infected areas in the state. The remaining 7 cases were found in Chitradurga (2), Bangalore Rural, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Kolar and Ramanagara. The total number of active cases in the state was 1,679, out of which 1,601 were active in one Bangalore city.

Covid’s rules have been loosened on the back of the infection. This is why people have stopped wearing masks even in areas where there are more people. The infection is on the rise, archaeologists said.

Despite the increase in cases of infection, the number of hospitalizations remains low. The deaths in the last two weeks have been zero. D Randeep, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services, said the state has continued to conduct genomic sequencing tests in Bangalore to detect mutant virus infections.
