Don’t Listen to False Rumors, CoWin Portal Not Hacked: Central Government

The central government has dismissed media reports that the CoWin portal, which is undergoing registration for the Kovid-19 vaccine, is hacked.

The Union Ministry of Health has issued a statement saying that the Kovin portal is hacked. There have been no such incidents. And it says that all vaccination data on the portal is secure and stored in a secure digital environment.

However, the Ministry took the issue seriously, and the vaccine administration authority group (EGVAC) said the matter was being investigated by the Computer Emergency Response Team of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (METY).
News on social media that the CoWin portal has been hacked is false. Dr. RS Sharma, Chairman of CoWin Empowered Group, said that the data of CoWin Portal was not shared with any outside entity.
There has been speculation that data on the CoWin portal, such as the geo-location of vaccine beneficiaries, have leaked on social networking sites.
